In support of their work, we thank the select group of donors who invest in their work by establishing endowed faculty positions – chairs, professorships and visiting academics – for their generosity.

P.D. Koon Professorship in Building Construction

The P.D. Koon Professorship supports distinguished faculty in the Building Construction program. The holders of this professorship have demonstrated expertise in building construction and teaching.

Current holders: Associate Professor Ahmed Abdel Aziz, Ph.D.; Associate Professor Carrie Sturts Dossick, Ph.D.; Associate Professor Woo-Yong Kim, Ph.D.

Mithun/Russell Family Foundation Endowed Professorship in Sustainability

Mithun and The Russell Family Foundation believe that the next opportunity for design innovation is to address the challenges confronting global systems. Through interdisciplinary collaboration, this endowed professorship brings science and design together to meet 21st Century grand challenges such as climate change and urbanization, helping to shape our physical future in meaningful, healthful and elegant ways for mankind and the natural world. This position emphasizes the importance of design in providing leadership for such a future.

Current holder: Associate Professor Kathrina Simonen, AIA, SE.

Kennedy Associates Endowed Professorship in Real Estate Studies

As the future ability of the Northwest real estate community depends on access to a pool of well-educated real estate managers, a strong local professional real estate education program is a necessity. The Kennedy Associates Endowed Professorship provides financial assistance to distinguished faculty who teach and conduct research in the Runstand Center for Real Estate Studies.

 Howard S. Wright Endowed Chair

The Howard S. Wright Chair enables the College of attract and retain a distinguished faculty member who has received national recognition in the fields represented in the College. Holders of this position are sought for their commitment to teaching and research in their field.

Bob Filley Endowed Chair in Real Estate Studies

Holders of this position shall have demonstrated, through professional activities, expertise in the area of real estate education and research.

Scan | Design Foundation Endowed Chair in Built Environments

The Scan | Design Foundation Endowed Chair is held by a faculty member who has achieved regional and/or national recognition in the fields of architecture, landscape architecture or urban design and planning with particular knowledge of the aspects of their field that relate to contemporary Danish design. Part of the holder’s scholarly efforts is to promote greater collaboration and exchange between the University and institutions of higher education in Denmark, the holder oversees the University-wide fellowship program that provides financial support to student participation in study abroad exchanges with Danish institutions.

Barry Onouye Endowed Chair in Architecture

The purpose of this endowment is to enhance the University’s ability to recruit and retain distinguished faculty in the Department of Architecture. The position was established in honor of former professor, Barry Onouye, an enthusiastic and inspiring teacher.
