Professor Balkrishna Doshi, of India, has been selected as the 2018 Pritzker Architecture Prize Laureate.
The Pritzker Architecture Prize is awarded to a living architect or architects whose built work demonstrates a combination of those qualities of talent, vision, and commitment, which has produced consistent and significant contributions to humanity and the built environment through the art of architecture. It is granted annually and is often referred to as “architecture’s Nobel” and “the profession’s highest honor.”

At age 90, Balkrishna Vithaldas (B.V.) Doshi’s journey in architecture has spanned 70 years, starting from Indian independence in 1947, to the vicissitudes of postmodernism and globalization. Doshi’s voice is a touchstone is global and Indian modernism.
