The College of Built Environments (CBE) announces the opening of Boliglaboratorium: A Danish Housing Lab, now on display at the Gould Gallery. This exhibit explores innovative Nordic-inspired solutions for sustainable living, featuring six groundbreaking Danish architectural projects that address some of the greatest challenges of our time, including the climate crisis, future urban challenges, shifting family patterns, and new ways of living.

“This exhibition underscores the global challenge of housing affordability and sustainable design. By showcasing innovative housing solutions from Denmark, we offer fresh perspectives on how architecture can address complex challenges, both here in the Pacific Northwest and beyond,” shares Rick Mohler, Professor and Chair of the Department of Architecture.

“Our goal in hosting this Danish-designed exhibition in the Pacific Northwest is to spark dialogue and inspire new partnerships that can develop community-led, sustainably-built affordable housing. Every neighborhood can benefit from seeing what is possible,” adds Fidelma McGinn, President of the Scan Design Foundation.

Check the CBE events calendar for more details on upcoming opportunities to engage with the exhibit.

The exhibit will be open until January 31, 2025, and is free and open to the public. Exhibit hours are Monday to Friday, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, with the gallery closed on January 20 in recognition of MLK Jr. Day.
