Construction Management students showcased their expertise and talent at the Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) Regional Competitions in Reno, Nevada, recently. Emelia Swanson and Luke Takechi secured 1st place in the Alternates Competition, a remarkable achievement for the team.

Reflecting on her experience, Emelia Swanson shared, “Participating as an alternate in the ASC Regional Competition was an incredible learning opportunity. The challenging environment provided valuable insights into real-world construction practices, deepening my understanding of the industry. I appreciated the chance to connect with professionals and fellow students, and the experience not only expanded my network but also strengthened my enthusiasm for pursuing a career in construction.”

Dr. Amos Darko, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Construction Management, praised the students for their hard work and success: “Our students always rise to the challenge in these tough competitions, showing excellent teamwork, problem-solving, and professionalism. It’s inspiring to see them do so well in situations that are just like the real challenges they will face in the construction industry.”

The ASC Regional Competition challenges teams to devise solutions for complex construction and design-build projects in just 16 hours, providing a premier platform for students to showcase their skills and connect with industry leaders.
