In late 2024, Associate Professor of Architectural History Ann C. Huppert received a National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) fellowship to support her research project, The Culture of Construction in Sixteenth-Century Rome. The 12-month fellowship was set to begin in July. However, the NEH canceled the grant following recent federal funding cuts under the Trump administration.

“This is a blow to the promotion of knowledge and scholarly investigation,” Huppert said. The cuts have affected scholars across the country, leaving many uncertain about the future of humanities research.
