Students, mentors, and faculty gather in a sunlit, modern event space for the College of Built Environments Mentorship Program Year-End Celebration. A large screen at the front displays a purple UW slide with cherry blossoms and the text “CBE Mentor Program Year-End Celebration.” Tables are full, and a speaker addresses the audience from a podium.

As the 2024–25 CBE Mentorship Program concludes, we celebrate a record year of connection, growth, and impact. The program pairs students with experienced professionals to support their transition from college to career through one-on-one guidance, career exploration, and professional skill development.

This year, 352 students were matched with mentors across the built environments—a more than 50% increase in participation from the previous year. “This program has continued to grow and support our students in new ways,” says Megan Brown, Director of Student Services and CBE Mentor Program Manager. “We’re up 50% in participation from last year—resulting in over 350 mentor pairings.”

For many students, the experience has been transformative. “I’ve been a mentee in the program for two years, and it’s been incredibly helpful as I work toward my MUP degree,” says Lela Cooper. “My mentor’s guidance has deepened my understanding of the field and supported me in navigating my career path.”

Thank you to the mentors who generously shared their time and insight, and to the students who participated with curiosity and purpose. Together, you’re helping build a more connected and prepared future for the built environments.

We’re already looking ahead to next year’s cohort. Applications for the 2025–26 CBE Mentorship Program open September 1–October 17, 2025.
