Lakshmipriya Rajakumar, a Master’s student in Architecture, was recently named a finalist in the University of Washington’s prestigious Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Finals. She had the opportunity to present her innovative thesis, “Optimizing Daylight and Visual Comfort in a Middle School, Rainier Valley, Seattle.”
Her research focuses on the importance of daylighting design in enhancing student well-being and academic performance, advocating for brighter and more comfortable learning environments in underserved communities.
“Lakshmipriya’s work highlights the power of architecture to positively influence students’ health and academic success,” said Professor Christopher Meek. “Her research shows the critical role the built environment plays in supporting educational outcomes.”
Lakshmipriya shared, “I’m grateful for the chance to present my thesis and for this recognition. It reaffirms my dedication to creating brighter, more supportive educational spaces, especially in underserved communities.”
