Dean Ken Yocom addressing graduates

The College of Built Environments is proud to celebrate the Class of 2026, who walked across the stage last week in Gould Court and Architecture Hall and now join the next generation of world builders.

In his remarks to this year’s graduates, John and Rosalind Jacobi Family Endowed Dean Ken Yocom said, “I’m proud to recognize the years of hard work, long nights, deadlines, revisions, presentations, and persistence that brought each of you, our graduates, to this moment. As you step into the next phase of your lives, I hope you carry forward three things: confidence in what you know, humility in what you still have to learn, and responsibility for the communities your work engages. That is both the responsibility and the privilege of this profession.”

As graduates of CBE, they leave with knowledge, relationships, skills, and a sense of responsibility that will shape the communities and environments they touch. We are proud of all they have contributed during their time at the University of Washington and look forward to seeing how they carry this work forward.

This moment also reflects the collective work of the faculty and staff who have supported our students along the way. Across the College, our faculty and staff teach, advise, mentor, challenge, encourage, and create the conditions for students to learn and succeed. Several faculty and staff members were also recognized during individual ceremonies for their contributions to our community.
